Baseball Stadium Temperature Nears 50 Degrees
The hot weather has even canceled baseball games. For the first time in 43 years since its launch in 1982, a game
has been canceled due to heat waves. The game between LG and Lotte scheduled to be held at Ulsan Munsu Stadium on the 2nd was canceled due to heat waves.
Article 27 of the KBO League regulations states that a game can be canceled when the highest temperature of the day is expected to be 35 degrees Celsius or higher for 2 days or more.
Ulsan, which has recently been under a heat wave warning for 14 consecutive days, reportedly had a temperature of well over 35 degrees Celsius that afternoon.
Munsu Stadium is covered with artificial grass. The heat has not escaped due to the continued heat wave. According to a team official, the temperature of the grass has reached up to 50 degrees Celsius. The
starting pitchers that day were scheduled to be LG's Lee Sang-young and Lotte's Charlie Barnes. LG changed their starting pitcher to Choi Won-tae, while Lotte kept Barnes as the starting pitcher.
