'Iranian key striker' Taremi's move to Inter is virtually complete

 Iran's leading striker Mehdi Taremi is expected to join Inter Milan this summer.

Fabricio Romano, a transfer market expert, said on his SNS on the 9th (Korean time), "Taremi will join Inter Milan as a free agent (FA) this summer. The Inter Milan club has already confirmed it. A verbal agreement was reached a few weeks ago. “It has been done, and the contract will be signed soon,” he said.

Taremi is an Iranian striker born in 1992. He continued his career as a player in the Middle East, and joined Porto in 2020 to challenge himself on the European stage. And he showed off his tremendous presence from his first season. Taremi appeared in 34 Portuguese league games in the 2020-21 season, scoring 16 goals and 15 assists.

His performance was consistent. He also played 32 league games in the 2021-22 season, scoring 20 goals and 13 assists. Even in his last season, he was the top scorer in the league, scoring 22 goals in 33 games. As of this season, he has slowed down a bit by scoring 3 goals in 15 league games, but he is still showing off his influence by scoring 2 goals in 6 games in the UEFA Champions League (UCL). 

Taremi is a key striker in the Iranian national soccer team. He has scored 46 goals in 82 appearances in his international career so far. He also stood out in major competitions, such as scoring multiple goals against England at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

He recently played as Iran's starting striker in the Asian Cup. He scored multiple goals in the final match against UAE in the group stage, and scored the opening goal from a penalty kick in the round of 16 match against Syria. However, he swallowed his disappointment as he was sent off with accumulated warnings in the game. Fortunately, Iran met Japan in the quarterfinals and advanced to the semifinals with a thrilling 2-1 win.

Taremi returned to the starting lineup in the semifinals against Qatar. And although he played close to full time, he was unable to prevent the team from losing 2-3 and was eliminated.

For Taremi, who now plans to focus on his club, this is his final season at Porto. Taremi was initially due to have his contract with Porto expire in the summer of 2024. Accordingly, he has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan since last summer, but his final move to Inter Milan is imminent.
