“I have absolutely no regrets even if I take off my gloves right now”

Kim Young-kwang announced his retirement after a long professional career.

On the 6th, Kim Young-kwang announced his intention to end his active life through his social media (SNS), saying, "There are people who are curious about the news, so I am leaving a message. Now I have decided to take off my gloves and am preparing for my second path." revealed.

Kim Young-kwang was a player like the one in K-League history until last season. He was born in 1983, joined Jeonnam Dragons in 2002, and began his professional career by playing 11 games in the 2003 season. He stayed in Jeonnam until the 2006 season.

He reached the peak of his career with Ulsan Hyundai Tigers (now Ulsan HD). In 2007, he wore an Ulsan uniform for 2.2 billion won, the highest transfer fee in the K-League at the time, and immediately became a starting player. He was selected as one of the K League's best 11 goalkeepers in the 2011 season, and played an outstanding role in helping Ulsan win their first Asian Football Confederation Champions League in the 2012 season.

Afterwards, he continued his challenging steps. Kim Young-kwang, who was loaned to Gyeongnam FC in the 2014 season, played for Seoul E-Land, a new team in the K-League Challenge (now K-League 2), for five years starting in 2015, and played for Seongnam FC starting in the 2020 season. He was one of the players recognized by fans even as Seongnam continued to underperform and was relegated and struggled in K League 2 as well.

He also achieved a milestone by playing in 605 K-League games. Kim Young-kwang played in 404 K League 1 games (including before the promotion and relegation system), 200 K League 2 games, and 1 promotion and relegation playoff game, ranking second in K League history. The first place is Kim Byeong-ji, who played in 706 games in total.
