Offensive rebound emphasized by SK's Choi Won-hyuk preserves victory

 “We talked about offensive rebounds” This is what Coach Choi and Choi Won-hyuk (31, 183cm) talked about before the game.

Seoul SK won 85-77 in the home game against Ulsan Hyundai Mobis in the 2023-2024 Jeong Kwan Jang Professional Basketball League held at Jamsil Student Gymnasium on the 16th.

On this day, SK recorded 43 rebounds and 24 points. They overwhelmed Hyundai Mobis, who recorded a rebound. Choi Won-hyuk played his role by recording 8 rebounds, which coach Jeon Hee-cheol mentioned before the game as something to pay attention to.

Choi Won-hyuk played 29 minutes and 20 seconds, scoring 11 points and 8 rebounds. He recorded 6 assists and 3 steals, leading the team to two consecutive wins. In particular, he contributed greatly to the victory by not only scoring 5 points to shake off the opponent's pursuit in the 4th quarter, but also recording the most rebounds after Warney.

Commenting on the victory after the game, “I am so happy to win the home game. “It would have been nice if we had won with our performance in the first half, but I want to attach great significance to the win,” he said, adding, “The coach told us to record 6 wins and 3 losses in the third round, and I will do my best to achieve that goal.”

When asked what part Coach Choi emphasized to his players before the game that day, he said, “I talked about offensive rebounds. In bad games, we always lost a lot of offensive rebounds. “I emphasized that, and today I caught about 17,” he said, expressing satisfaction.

He continued his answer and said, “You have to say it a lot so that the players on our team follow it. At the end, when I saw Youngjun go in and grab the offensive rebound, I thought I should tell him and put it in his head (laughs). During training, the coach gives me a source and I solve it, but lately he hasn't told me anything like that, so I have to think about it on my own. “It’s a burden, but it’s still fun,” he said, emphasizing enjoyment rather than pressure.

When asked about the problem of not achieving the same level of performance despite being stronger than last season, he said, “It’s not my fault, it’s all I think I did something wrong. In fact, last year's start was even worse. “I don’t think about that this year, and I think it will get better in the second half, and I will become stronger when Ilyoung comes,” he said, mentioning good memories from last season.
